Do I need to have an isolation switch installed?

Yes, if your charger location is further than 2m from your switchboard, it is an AGL safety requirement.

Isolation is required to prevent a short circuit or electric shock, which could harm people and equipment. The isolation switch is included in the installation cost.

A typical size of a switch would be 200mm x 200mm and look like the image, below.
