As for the feed-in tariff: any excess electricity your solar energy system feeds back to the grid will appear as a credit on your electricity bill. (You can view your rates here.) In most cases, your feed-in tariff rate will be lower than the cost of electricity, which means you'll get the most value from your solar system by consuming the energy it produces, instead of exporting it to the grid.
