What electric cars are suitable for families?

Electric cars have come a long way since the first Tesla (a two-door roadster that was as beautiful to look at as it was impractical to do the grocery shopping in). And with new models being released all the time, there's an electric vehicle for everyone - including families of just about all sizes.

But which one is right for your family?

SUVs are a popular choice. The extra interior space means there's more room for booster seats, school bags, sports equipment and ever-growing legs, while the high performance means you don't have to scrimp on things like speed or the occasional off-road adventure.

With an AGL EV subscription, you can choose between the Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro or MG ZS EV, three pure electric SUVs that combine practicality with style.

Those looking for even more room might opt for the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV: a hybrid family SUV with a spacious 463-litre boot and an electric motor range of 54km (or 595km when used with the internal combustion engine).

Of course, you don't have to go full utility vehicle just because you're a family. The Tesla Model 3 boasts a 425-litre boot space (when both front and rear storage areas are combined), and a perfect 5-star safety rating.

Of course, all electric vehicles are subject to the same rigorous standards that apply to conventional cars.
