Frequently asked questions about the Hyundai Kona Electric

How much time does it take to charge the Hyundai Kona EV?

Charging time of a Hyundai Kona depends on the type of charger you use. If using a standard 220v home or office 3 pin power point it will likely take approx. 28 hours to charge your battery from empty to full capacity. Should you have a 7kW charger installed (which is the most common for a single phase property), this charging time drops to approx. 7-10 hours.

The fastest way to charge your Hyundai Kona is to use a commercial public DC charger. These can charge the Hyundai Kona from empty to 80% full in approx. an hour.

How much does it cost to charge the Hyundai Kona EV?

The cost to charge your Hyundai Kona will depend on a number of factors, for example, where you charge (at home or at a charging station), for how long and what time of day. Charging from home is the cheapest option as you'll just be paying what you pay for electricity at your property.

The Hyundai Kona has a 64kWh battery, so to work out what it would cost to charge up to full capacity, simply multiply the kWh rate for electricity by 64.

Here's an example: $0.28c/kWh of electricity x 64 (the kWh battery capacity of the Hyundai Kona) = $17.92

Be sure to check if you are on a time of use energy cost as it might be even cheaper to charge your Hyundai Kona during off peak times.

Can I schedule the Hyundai Kona EV to charge during cheaper off peak times?

You sure can! Through the Hyundai Kona's multimedia screen you can set it to prioritise off peak charging or set it to charge only during off peak times.

How much range does the Hyundai Kona EV have?

The Hyundai Kona has an indicative range of 449km on a single charge. However, just like a petrol or diesel vehicle, this can vary depending on a number of factors; such as how you drive (acceleration and deceleration), the weather (colder weather can drain a battery slightly quicker) and whether or not you have air conditioning on.

Can you install the leased charger at a rental property?

Yes, as long as you have permission in writing from your landlord.

Do you want to buy a charger?
