Tell us a bit more about your electric car so that we can recommend the best charger for you.
To see if a home charger is right for you, we need to know a bit about where you live and where you’ll typically park your EV.
If off-street parking isn’t available, you’ll need to charge your EV using a public charger. There are around 2,500 public charging stations across Australia.
You’ll need your landlord’s permission to install a home charger at your rental property. We can help you with the request.
Enter your details below and we’ll email you a letter template you can use to request permission.
You can still continue on to select your charger although we won’t be able to install it until you have this permission.

To pick the best charger for your EV, you need to know what phase power your home runs on. Basic chargers only require single-phase power, while faster chargers (11kW on up) require 3-phase.
An easy way to tell is to check your home’s switchboard, or fusebox. Find the main switch (also called the ‘normal supply main switch’) and count the number of switches beneath it. If there are 3 switches, you’re running 3-phase power. A single switch means you’re on single-phase.
What type of power is your home connected to?
If you have rooftop solar power, you’ll be able to charge your EV with solar energy — provided you have the right charger.
Your car will receive solar energy when the panels are producing more energy than your house needs.
The amount of solar power that charges your car will depend on how much electricity your solar system generates and whether you're running other appliances at the same time. But if there isn't enough power in your solar system to charge the car, grid power will be used to make up the shortfall.
EV drivers save a lot in petrol costs every year. That said, they do increase your electricity usage.
To help with the transition, AGL is offering EV drivers a charging plan that includes up to $120 in annual credits and is carbon offset for 12 months. It’s just one of the ways AGL is working to support EV ownership in Australia.
Concerned about the environment? So are we. That’s why we offer carbon-neutral energy, certified by Climate Active, to reduce or offset any greenhouse emissions.
